Recognising the need for a suburban based dental practice I founded Elmwood Dental in 1993. I have always been passionate about building a team that ensures we develop a professional, trusting and caring relationship with each of our patients.

Outside of dentistry our family has a great love of the outdoors that includes running in the Port Hills or walking, biking and skiing in some of the more remote parts of New Zealand.

I’ve been a family dentist for +30 years with a health & wellness focus. I’m passionate that oral health is an important part of general health.

I have been involved with dentistry on a national level and am currently president of the New Zealand Dental Association. Outside of dentistry I have 4 children, enjoy reading, gardening, sewing and am a keen cook.

Beata Baumann
B.D.S

I was born and raised in Hungary. I finished my medical degree in 2000, however not long after that I realised my real interest was teeth and started my dental training in Budapest. Soon after I met my kiwi husband, Rhys. In 2004 I finally decided to move to New Zealand and completed my dental degree at Otago University. In 2010 I started working at Elmwood Dental Surgery. I enjoy the variety of general dentistry, but have a particular interest in the cosmetic aspect.

At home our two beautiful young children keep me busy. As the kids grow up I will continue to seek more time for my two big passions, travelling and art.
